About the Venue
In 2024, the Bartholomew County Public Library acquired this National Historic Landmark and began transforming it into a hub for regional programming. This concert marks the first of its kind to be hosted in this extraordinary space.
Designed by the legendary architect Eero Saarinen and completed in 1964, this structure is a true masterpiece of modernist architecture. The iconic building, with its distinctive hexagonal design and soaring 192-foot central spire, is locally known as the “oil can,” making it the perfect temporary name while the Library gathers community input for its official name.
Inside, the venue's central oculus serves as a dramatic focal point, creating an almost surreal atmosphere. The seating arrangement encircles this area, promoting a sense of connection and an intimate experience.
For concertgoers seeking a cultural experience, this venue offers excellent acoustics and pristine modern design, providing the right environment for an unforgettable show.
Architect : Eero Saarinen
Landscape Architect: Dan Kiley
Architectural Details: Alexander Girard
The property is a National Historic Landmark, the highest recognition for a site in the United States.
